Empowering Women With Food: Our Physical Health

March 15, 2018

When people ask what I do, I tell them I help women with anxiety, diabetes and energy slumps flip their moods, transform their health, and skyrocket their energy… so they can focus on work and family instead of health problems.

Yet lately we’ve been hearing about empowering women, a wonderful trend. And it has me wondering whether I can – whether I do – empower women through food.

This brief post touches on physical health issues in women and how food can help prevent or reverse them.

Are Women’s Key Health Concerns Food-Related?

Some of the primary health issues of concern to women are heart disease, cancers (lung and breast cancers are the top 2), diabetes, hypertension, obstructive lung diseases, flu and pneumonia, and kidney disease. Of course, there are others.

Of the diseases above, the ones that may be considered food-related are the metabolic conditions: heart disease, breast cancer, diabetes, and hypertension. All of these have been shown to have their roots in insulin resistance. Helping women reverse these conditions with food and exercise is a specialty of mine, and I have a solid track record of doing so.

(Even colds and flu may be considered food-related to the degree that foods will either support the immune system or derail it.)

Another health concern for pregnant women is – or should be – autism in their babies. The risk of autism is greatly increased if the mom-to-be has one or more of the metabolic conditions listed above, and/or high cholesterol, high triglycerides or polycystic ovary syndrome.

Does Changing Diet Help Reverse Metabolic Conditions?

Most health information states that weight loss will lead to reversal of metabolic conditions. And yes, weight loss can and will absolutely help.

But how wonderful is it that just eating differently can set the changes in motion – even before the weight loss happens?

My approach focuses on setting metabolic changes in motion AND making them stick. To the degree that I show women how to eat in a way that can reverse insulin resistance and its associated diseases, I love being able to say that my work can and does empower women.

Women’s Health Issues

The International Woman’s Day theme for 2016 is “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”. Women have come a long way. Their role in the society is not limited to reproduction and an aid to men. Today she stands on equal footing as men. She does everything that only men did, up until a few decades ago. She serves in the military; she runs businesses, leads nations, runs space missions, makes families and fights the fair fights of the society. Among all this she hasn’t given up on the institution of marriage and family. She is still a mother first and a woman.
It’s not easy for a woman to make it in this male dominated world. Not all nations of the world consider their women citizens to be equal to their male citizens. In some war trodden countries, the situation of women is abominable. She is traded as a physical quantity and treated worse than animals. In the more developed and free thinking world, she has to face gender inequality, unequal pay issues, and biased medical issues.

Many countries do not give importance to many health issues faced by women. No gender specific health care criterion is available to them. Mental health and reproductive health of women are some such issues which have long awaited significant development. Today we divert our attention towards a handful of such issues.

Cancer – Cancer affects women more than any other form of diseases, with two of the most common ones being breast and cervical cancers. It is said that each year around half a million women die from cervical cancer and half a million from breast cancer. Most women still do not know about the mammograms and pap tests, when and how to take them. Breast and cervical cancer awareness is important in today’s time and day.

Mental Health – Women are more likely to face depression and anxiety at some point of their life than men, due to biological differences. While depression is the most common mental health problem for women, suicide is a leading cause of death. Abuse and neglect are often factors in women’s mental health problems. Treatments need to be sensitive to and reflect gender differences.

Heart Disease – Heart diseases are a leading cause of death. Important differences in the approaches to treatment and prevention of heart disease between women and men have lead to the increase in death numbers. We should be made more aware of the heart healthy choices they can make and the kind of lifestyle they should lead so as to lead a happy, healthy life.

Reproductive and Maternal Health – Sexual and reproductive health problems are responsible for one third of health issues for females between the ages of 15 and 44 years. It said that unsafe sex is a major risk factor, particularly among females in developing countries. While progress has been made, almost 300, 000 women died from complications in pregnancy and childbirth, and most of these deaths could have been prevented if the women had access to family planning and basic services.
HIV/AIDS – HIV/AIDS is the leading cause of death for ladies aged between 15 to 44-years-old. It said that too many young girls still struggle to protect themselves against sexual transmission of HIV and to get the treatment they require. The stigma attached to STDs is also a major factor for these deaths. It stops them from seeking the required medical help and advice.

These entire problem have one thing in common, they all seek a very different gender specific approach towards handling them. It’s about time gender specific studies and research to start, and we should enjoy equal rights as men.
Political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. With all the efforts dedicated towards us for one day, it is essentially to have resources diverted towards our health.

How to Dress Yourself Fashionably

February 2, 2018

Women in their 30′s are fluctuated between their personal changes and their careers. When a woman is in her 30′s, she is not a girl anymore and she has to be mature both in her family and her career. She would be several children’s mother and begin to be responsible for her children, husband, parents and friends. She is so busy maintaining the balance of the family and career that she wouldn’t have enough time to care for her appearance. That’ll be bad. In modern society, out of fashion means you will be less competitive both in your career and family. So, this short article is going to give some fashion tips for women in 30′s.

Women over 30 are different from 20′s girls. You have much to think about. Now you are a career woman and you know how hard it is to earn money, and you are a mother and also know how hard it is to raise up your family. When buying things such as clothes and accessories, you will be more practical. That doesn’t mean you should wear cheap fashion, with these guidelines, you’ll be able to be fashion.

My first point is how to choose fashion clothing. Women in 20′s are young and they can wear any strange clothing to show their personalities, but women over 30 can’t wear tacky clothes at any cost. Since you might have to take care of kids and you can’t spend much time dressing up or washing clothes, your clothes should be comfortable to wear and easy to clean. Sometimes you have to make a distinction between what to wear at work and what to wear off duty. If you are not required to wear work clothes, wear bright colors such as peach, light blue blouses with pants or A-line skirts to show your passion for your work, but your skirts should at least end blow knees. Pay attention to this: bold colors don’t mean bold styles. If you have already got married, stay away from Low-cut or short clothes such as Low-cut dresses and miniskirts when you are at work. After work, you can dress bright loose T-shirt with Capri pants or a simple blouse with long skirts. When attending evening banquet, you should dress a formal gown that fit your feature and status.

Then keep your eye on the makeup and accessories. You can’t try new cute styles now, no bowknots, no cute earrings. 30′s women should choose jewelry that are elegant and little mature. Avoid carry glitzy handbags, purses or concise handbags are recommended. Maybe you have to wear heels at work, but after work, you should take care of yourself and choose a comfortable pair of flat footwear. As for makeup, you should avoid doing heavy makeup such as bold colors for eye shadows and eye lines. That doesn’t mean a totally plain look devoid of any makeup is good. Your makeup helps you look graceful and femininity.
